Flights

Houston has two major airports: George Bush Intercontinental (IAH) and Hobby (HOU). Yup, the former was named after a president (but not that president). IAH is generally the recommended choice, with more flight options. There should be multiple daily flights to all major U.S. and Canadian cities. Also, it’s a primary hub for Continental-now-United, so you can often find non-stop options between IAH and your airport of choice. Hobby only handles U.S. domestic flights, primarily Southwest, with daily flights to most major U.S. cities.

Car Rental

For those guests flying into Houston, you’ll definitely want to rent a car. Or share with car-renting friends/family! Houston has a significant number of toll roads. You can get around without using them, but it’s not always easy. So instead of bringing rolls of quarters, if you’re going to rent a car, we highly recommend that you get one with an “EZ TAG” – Houston’s electronic toll system. This will allow you to breeze through toll booths without stopping, and to access some toll roads that are EZ TAG-only (most notably, the Westpark Tollway – the most direct route to our venue from west/central Houston). Briscoe Manor, our venue, is located in a country setting. There aren’t any hotels in the immediate vicinity. However, there are numerous options 20-30 minutes away, in the west and southwest areas of Houston.

Hotel Sorella is located in west Houston in a pedestrian-friendly complex called CityCentre, one of our most frequented hangouts. Using the Westpark Tollway (EZ-TAG only), it’s approx. 30 minutes drive to Briscoe Manor. Using highways I-10 to TX-99 (no tolls), it’s approx. 45 min.
