The Vatican is a Holy place and has strict guidelines for attending a ceremony, even the bride and groom must adhere to the dress code in order to be allowed entry.
Women: long gowns, covered knees, modest styles, high neck lines, short-long sleeves, covered shoulders, chest and back (note: an elegant shawl, cape, bolero or jacket can add coverage to a strapless gown).
Men: suits or tuxedos.
Footwear: close heel and toe shoes; there will be walking, cobble stone steps, and dancing, so please wear your most comfortable fancy shoes (note: stylish sneakers accepted).
Within the traditional and reverent guidelines, feel free to have fun with your attire, wear your favorite colors, be creative and evoke your inner Michelangelo!
